Robinson House dates back to the 1850's when it was built as an extra wing to 17th century West Town House. Robinson House takes its name from Theodore and Isabel Robinson, a brother and sister who lived in the house for many years from 1892. They donated the Backwell Playing Fields to the village and paid for the construction of tennis courts and a bowling green. There is a large stone and plaque in the park commemorating their generosity and the grand opening in 1929.
